Gorgeous Langkawi, Malaysia

This passed week the boys had an overlapping long weekend.  We took advantage and traveled to Malaysia.  We were told Langkawi was amazing so it ended up on the top of our list of places to visit while we are living in this part of the world.  It did not disappoint.

Langkawi is an island in Malaysia.  Our hotel was located in a remote area of the island surrounded by a rainforest.  A truly beautiful location.  It was rainy season also in Malaysia so luckily it was not too sunny and just hot enough to enjoy the beach and the pool.  We spent our days playing in the sand and water, exploring the area to spot monkeys, squirrels, geckos, eagles, flying lemurs, etc.  (the monkeys of course were the most interesting).  We also got to swim in a coral reef conservation area to learn more about the fish and coral reefs and to feed the fish.  The boys had a fantastic time experiencing all this and coming so close to nature.

Soon after our arrival in the afternoon, we immediately took advantage of the sand and sea. I love this picture!

M had so much fun in the sand and thankfully he barely attempted to eat it

Can you spot the monkey on our hotel?

Can you spot him here?

On our nature excursion around the resort grounds. The kids were such good explorers

Holding the hermit crab

Very cool!

Swimming in our private pool (the one M threw Mike's phone in - after over 48 hours in rice, it survived the water)

Hanging out on our patio waiting for the rain to pass

M is really one of the crew now

M feeling so free walking on the sand

We had so much fun in the sand...something we really all enjoyed together

A dead eel that washed up to shore (Mike without his glasses thought it was a piece of fabric!)

C feeding the fish and petting them in the coral nursery - he was so into it asking a ton of questions.  They loved him

C taking a guided snorkelling tour

A touching and examining the star fish (he didn't want to snorkel)

M also got a turn touching the star fish

All together it was an amazing trip.
