When mom was here we walked around and ventured quite a bit in our neighbourhood. It was hot all the time but we were lucky because there was always a nice breeze, unlike the days we had this week when the weather was in the high 30s (not complaining of course!).

Mom discovered a food market a short taxi ride away where the locals shop. It is a fresh food market filled with fresh veggies and fruits at better prices than at our local supermarket. The catch is that the market is also filled with butchers selling every part of an animal as possible as well as live fish and other sea life. It is definitely an experience but well worth it as I stock up and have enough for two weeks at a time. Tomorrow I will be going on my second visit. Thankfully our housekeeper comes with me and she translates a lot for me.

| Just another picture of the market - I definitely didn't take enough |

On another day we decided to eat shawarma on the street. The lamb shawarma was amazing and the chicken was good. The view for the kids was lots of fun as many waved to them from their cars.

On our way to the sky train we pass a railway. The train that passes is small, probably the size of a trolley. The interesting part is that along side the railway are rows and rows of food stalls. It is quite amazing how much street food they have in this city.
As you saw in the first picture above, we also have street food on our street. During the day is one set of people and at night it is another. They are there every day except for Mondays. Every time we pass them we eye the fish and a day or so before mom left, we decided to try it out.
